The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Cate and the Hit Man! A True Story!

It was a quiet evening and my husband and I were watching PBS. Miss Marple was at it again. Always love her. Anyway, a new program came on. David Foster and his discovered talent!! Mr. Clarke wandered off, but I was glued to the screen!! There were all my faves: Josh Groban, Donna Summer, Jackie Evancho, a young talent, Cherie, the list goes on…including SEAL!

Each performance was amazing. This David Foster, also known as The Hit Man, was the person to know and watch. Everyone he worked with was a Super Star or soon would be. So I totally enjoyed the program and went off to finish packing for a quick trip to Florida the next day.

Next Day: Private Jet Terminal

I was meeting friends and flying down to Longboat Key, Florida for a few days. Really looking forward to my flying companions, the trip down and the Private Jet!! Now, I do not fly privately often, but when I do, WOW do I relish it! Love watching the fellow passengers, trying to figure out who is going where, because you never know. Checking out any celebrities and I have seen a few. All the time they are trying to figure out who we are and where we are going! Then he walked in, THE HIT MAN, himself, David Foster!!

He was by himself as a dark town car had just dropped him off. You can see everything in these small terminals from start to finish. As he made his way to the desk, a tall Pilot greeted him and took his bags. Well, I had to say something! No one was noticing the great talent in the room and I would give David his due!!

Approaching the Hit Man, I extended my hand and gave him a warm greeting! Something like: I just saw your program last night and it was over the top amazing!

At any rate I could see he was pleased and we began chatting about the show and his next PBS Special. Look at me, chatting it up with The Hit Man!! Now, you may think I broke into song and auditioned right then and there, but I did not. I behaved as any School of Flaunt Graduate would: poised and polite.

One more time I gushed over his work and we exchanged flight information. He was going to another PBS station to promote fundraising and comment on his program.

Well that made my day and I think his too!!

When I boarded our jet, my friends were quick to ask, "Who was that man a friend of yours?" "No, I said, just a Hit Man."

If you could have seen their faces!!

Xoxo,

Cate
