The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Whale Tale NO Whale Tail

For those of you who are not familiar with the term Whale Tail it is the Y-shaped waistband of a thong or g-string that is visible above the waistline of low-rise jeans or other clothing. We only wish that this look had gone the way of grunge but sadly it still seems to be rearing its ugly little "common" look occasionally! Common such a wonderful word. It can mean ordinary, vulgar and coarse. Some might say, "Falling below ordinary standards or lacking refinement."

Yes many of the female stars in music, TV, modeling and movies from Christina Aguilera, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss and even Hally Berry succumbed to the mid 2000's craze and were photographed in their whale tails. Rap songs, pornographic movies revolving around whale tails and even clothing designers seemed enraptured by this "common" look. Then viola in the mid 2000's reality set in. Showing off muffin tops (bulging fat hanging over the top of low riding jeans) punctuated with a whale tail drowned! Yes we thought the whale was dead! But still we see occasional glimpses of it! It really does hurt the eyes!! But we digress-

As in any look when the masses adopt it then the celebs run from it almost immediately. But who says that you have to adopt styles that SCREAM tacky, no taste, no couth, no class, just because some movie stars etc. are doing it!

We are not adopting the idea of looking dowdy. But we do want you to remember there is a fine line between high style and looking like a hooker! Yes you read right!! You know the type, polyester tank tops or something cut down to the navel. Cleavage spilling out! Oh these women think they are so sexy. NEWS FLASH! You are a total flaunt failure. You do look like a hooker working the corner! Harsh but true.

Now think about this, style is what you should be aiming for but not faddish style you see so-called celebrities wearing to get into the latest tabloid magazine. We will name no names here for we feel sure that a family that is famous for being famous will pop into your mind now. Erase that thought immediately!

This is what you should be trying to emulate, Quiet Money! What is it? You would know if you had come from "Old money." Guess what, they do not need to prove anything. These people scream silently by their very persona and choice of clothes, "I've got it." They don't gravitate to the gaudy and COMMON.

Still confused and don't understand what we want you to strive for? Well, obviously you need to read The School of Flaunt Handbook since we cannot cover all aspects of a stylish and gracious life in just a few short paragraphs.

We will leave you with this thought, "Why do you want to be ORDINARY when you can be EXTRAORDINARY?"

Richest regards,

Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke
