The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Mummy Meets Miguel Part 2

It has been two short weeks and Miquel, Evelyn and my mother are having a ball. First they went to Palm Beach to spend a few days and see a few friends. I noticed Miguel has a new wardrobe and is looking very sharp! What is even more telling is the way Evelyn has wrapped herself, quite literally around all things Miguel.

They shop together, eat together, drive together, never is one without the other. All the time my mother is smiling, smiling, smiling since she is the proverbial "yenta" match maker.

Mummy: Now glowing with pride! "Isn't it wonderful to see Evelyn so happy?"

Daddy: As usual immersed in the Wall Street Journal. "What? Oh, yes, quite so!

Good chap that Miguel."

Mummy: "Well, that is why we are all going to Las Vegas!"

Moi: I can feel my eyes starting to get larger! "Whaat!! Why?"

Mummy: "Well, Evelyn cannot continue to live in sin and she must marry her

prince!"

Moi: I'm now choking on my chardonnay! "Does Miguel know anything about

this?"

(Remember we are out of town, in Palm Beach, having a quick bite at the pool.)

Daddy: (Chewing and nonplused as always after all of these years with my

Mother) "We've gone this far, might as well see Sin City!!"

Mummy: "Dahling, put those dreams of Show Girls out of your head! This trip is

strictly business. Miguel and Evelyn business!! I have made all the

plans. We leave this afternoon. The jet will be ready at 2pm. Now get

packing and no belly aching. As she peers over her sunglasses at my

father.

I come to find out, that indeed, Miguel and Evelyn are in the know about this Las Vegas adventure. They are packed and looking flaunt fabulous, which I'm sure Clarissa had a hand in, and are at the private airport at 2pm sharp. I meanwhile can see my future painting projects evaporating on the tarmack, sigh.

Once in the air, the lovebirds announce their engagement and that the pending nuptials are to be held at the King's Little White Chapel in Vegas. Yes Vegas Baby!!! Hmm, I wonder if that King is as in Elvis. No he's dead!

Meanwhile I thinking, OMG I have never been to a Vegas Wedding, this will be a new chapter for the School of Flaunt Handbook for sure!!

Our flight was comfortable as well it should it be since Mummy pays a small fortune for her lease, the crew and a well stocked liquor supply! So much nicer than commercial and yes we did land in three hours time.

What was awaiting us? Two Pink Cadillac Convertibles! Yes two, one for Mummy, Daddy, and me, and the other for the happy couple. Our drivers promptly whisked all of us to The King's Little White Chapel! I have to admit I had no idea what to expect next!

We are met by a "Wedding Planner". Who knew these places had wedding planners? But unfortunately we are off to a shaky start! Evelyn and the "Wedding Planner" must make a hasty retreat and leave to procure new flowers, since the old ones are soundly rejected by none other than Clarissa Cadbury, shouting, "No Fake Flowers!!"

Finally we are ready to start the ceremony and who appears in the chapel? The King, himself! Well, he looked like Elvis, down to his poufy hair! Oh my, he is going to do the officiating. I should have known, we were in The King's Little White Chapel.

The music starts and Daddy escorts Evelyn down the aisle to meet her Miguel. I think to myself, it was only a few months ago that Miguel came into our lives, painting his way into our family. Ahhh how sweet! But then I realize Mummy now has both Miguel and Evelyn! Really life can be so unfair!

So after the ceremony, we all shared a few tears of happiness and jumped into the pink Cadillac's. (I am wondering who sells Mary Kay here?) Off we went for an evening of toasting, dining, and gambling! It was such fun.

Note to self: Las Vegas would be a great place to spend and anniversary? The Bellagio perhaps? Or maybe the Wynn?? As I feel my previous opinions of Las Vegas changing. I mean, just look at these pools!! They alone are Flaunt Fabulous!!
