The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

August

A month to remember!

Where to begin? A few months ago a dear friend of mine was talking about getting some plastic surgery. Yes, going under the knife! I hadn't seen her or her husband for a few years because they live in Alabama. Nothing against Alabama, I have been there twice previously and always enjoyed the southern hospitality but it has to be a planned trip since it requires flying there. (Small aside, love all of that fried food! Yummy!!)

Anyway, this woman is one of my BFF's and we have always stayed in contact. You know how it is with an old friend, when you speak on the phone it is like it was only yesterday and you immediately fall into easy conversation.

So we were having one of our girl chats when she starts speaking about her husband and how she is starting to look like she is the one married to a younger man. Now maybe if you were a woman of a certain age out with your boy toy that would be one thing but when your husband is 10 years older than you and now you are looking ten years older than him. Let's talk! Ladies this is not good!

Why was he looking so refreshed? (Don't you love that term, plastic surgeons use it all of the time.) Well, he had become good friends with a plastic surgeon. Ah, you know where I'm going with this now. Yes the old sporting clays group that shoots together every weekend. Then they go have lunch and what is one of the topics of discussion? Plastic surgery and all of the new things they can do. It isn't just about the knife anymore students!

But getting back to her husband. He is charming, witty and starting to show his age. Nothing wrong with that, right? Hmm, obviously he thinks differently! So what is the first step? A CO 2 fractional laser treatment on his face and hands to reduce the signs of aging. Then he announces that he is getting an Ultherapy procedure. I'll explain what these are later. But he doesn't stop there, he then has plastic work done on his neck and chin, just a little lipo and tightening of some of lose skin. Gheez!! He is now starting to look like the boy toy and my BFF is not happy!

So what is a wife to do? You know! She tells me that she is going to get all of the above done. But she is having it all done at the same time, not like the hubby who did his over a three year period. YIKES!

I'm thinking who is going to take care of her? And I voice my concern! The plot thickens here. She says, "Well, I was hoping that you might be able to come for a few weeks? I'll pay for your airfare, first class, of course. And if you come a little early we can do lots of shopping, go out on the boat and enjoy all of that fried southern food together." I told her let me think about this and I'll talk with Mr. S and see what is on our schedule.

Well, you know I wasn't going to let her go through this by herself because she was adamant about not telling any of her friends in Alabama and the husband is always flitting around the world on business. So I called her back and said, "Book me, Dano. I'll come play nurse for you."

To be continued

Alexandra
