The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Mummy and the Queen's Jubilee

Back to Merry Ole England for the party of the year! Yes, we missed the Royal Wedding, please refer to Royal Wedding Post on Divas' Diaries, damn that Food Poisoning - but I digress.

We all and by all, I mean, Alexandra, her husband, Mr. Clarke, myself and my daughter, Fiona descended on London in a plethora of excitement! After all, it is not everyday that Queen Elizabeth celebrates for the entire weekend her 60 years as Monarch! Oh, what fun.

My mother was in charge of all arrangements and had us at the Ritz. Perfect for walking to everything, as Mummy would say. Never mind that she took a car and driver everywhere, but we did walk.

My parents were thrilled to be included in the Horse Racing at Epsom Derby. Mummy was giddy telling us later, what she and HRH were discussing. Cannot for the life of me remember, but it was SOOO IMPORTANT. Perhaps Mummy is joining MI5? That would be scary!!

We saw all the buntings, hung absolutely everywhere and waved our little flags until Alexandra thought her arms would fall off. Not sure which pub our husbands snuck off to, but who's to blame them? We did enjoy a Fancy Lunch Party outside Fortnum and Mason and who showed up, Prince Charles and Camilla!! They ate their sausage buns and scurried off to the BIG BOAT! Charles kept saying they could not be late today!!!

The Thames Boat Extravaganza was amazing. Mummy secured, as only she can, two spots for herself and Daddy to ride on a major boat. Not, the Queen's, but Mummy couldn't stop telling everyone who was within earshot that SHE would be on a boat! The poor doorman at the Ritz was babbling after she got into her car to depart.

The Smythes and Clarkes escaped the weather and watched from a lovely flat overlooking the festivities. So nice, warm and dry, I might add.

You had to hand it to the Queen and Prince Phillip standing throughout the cruise down the Thames. I blame that for Prince Phillip's hospitalization the next day! Too much.

We had tea after tea and dinner after dinner. Good thing we were walking or it might have gotten ugly in the extra pounds that could have been packed on.

As the Concert was by Lottery, we had to watch from our Hotel, but we could hear them screaming!! We waved our little flags when each new artist started their song and keep drinking more Gin & Tonics in the suite. By the end of the performance Alexandra crowned me Queen of the Ritz and we all had a good laugh.

All in all a chance of a lifetime event, God Save the Queen! And Mummy!
