The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Cate Goes to The Big Easy

or

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

I cannot believe that I have never before been to New Orleans!! Well, now was my chance. An annual Girl's Trip of old friends was descending on the Big Easy to visit one of our own, Christiana, who is a local. Now you might think we will be swilling Hurricanes and eating beignets, which of course we will. But one of the main reasons for the trip was we were really going to meet her new Italian Lover, ROBERTO!!

Yes, wild horses could not keep the Sisters from meeting Christiana's new man. And to make it even more fun, we will be staying at his Italian Villa on the North Shore of Lake Ponchartrain. (Something of a gated community, golf club, etc...veddy nice.)

So we all arrive at the New Orleans' Airport from around the country. Cece, from Phoenix, Patsy from Chicago, Mimsy from Austin and Moi from NYC. Let the fun begin!!

Laughter starts when we are Beaded with more beads than you can shake a stick at. (Big Easy talk for quite a bit.) Then we are given Tiaras to wear to Emeril Lagasse's restaurant! Hope I hear him say BAM!!

Christiana piles us and all of our suitcases into her SUV and we start our drive out to the Italian Villa, crossing the longest bridge I have ever seen over Lake Pontchartrain. Seriously, it is one long bridge! Christiana nods to the Security Guard and we quickly pass through the gate, to make our way through winding roads that lead to a beautiful home right out of Tuscany!

After a quick home tour, the first glasses of Chianti Reserva are poured and we await ROBERTO, while Christiana who is a wonderful cook entertains us with her culinary magic in this TO DIE FOR KITCHEN! But wait here is the really good part! He arrives and is tall, dark, handsome and totally charming. I'm thinking, "Ciao, let the fun begin." Roberto did not disappoint for he was not shy and seemed to enjoy all the chattering of our group. (Not sure Mr. Clarke would find this so enjoyable, but we will leave that alone.)

And then ROBERTO announces a surprise! We will be whisked off tomorrow to the Ritz in town, for an overnight stay and jazz show. Well, we are all thinking Lucky Us, and really Lucky Christiana!

So after a flaunt fabulous meal, we all make our way to our guest rooms of which there are too many to count. Sweet dreams awaited us about our overnight in the Big Easy tomorrow!

Ciao,

Cate
