The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Starting 2012

Vitamix Blender

Well, you know we all start out with resolutions for the New Year. Admit it! You made a few whether you told anyone or not. I can see that guilty look on your face now. Yes, you who are now turning slightly red because you know you have been caught.

O.K., so let's have a moment of honesty. I took a pledge that I would treat myself better this year. I can see you rolling your eyes now. What? Does she mean more shopping? NO! I mean taking care of my health. We only have one body and I would prefer to use it up well.

So of course this means my tread mill, exercises with Joel Harper and more smoothies! You'll never guess what I got myself. Well, let me go back to give you some history. First of all a number of the Flaunt Fab Forty (my posse group) had been singing the praises of their machine that pulverizes anything, seeds, flesh and skin in seconds. What is it? It is a Vitamix Blender!

This little beauty is not cheap! $379 before tax. Jo had purchased one and left it in the box for two weeks before she finally decided to try it because of the price. But upon reflection she decided that since she had gotten it at Costco they would take anything back if she hated it! But how could we hate it when LB keeps telling us all that we need this blender.

Flash forward: Now I'm standing in line at Costco and happened to turn around and saw in the cart behind me, you guessed it, a Vitamix Blender in a box. I couldn't help myself; I just had to ask this woman if she had tried this miracle device or knew someone who had it.

I got a five minute dissertation about how she had purchased something similar on Amazon and she had just sent it back! Couldn't hold a candle to the Vitamix blender. She continued with her daughter had this blender for over 5 years and loved it. And yes she had tasted smoothies from this blender.

But here is the really great news! You will never waste another piece of fruit, celery, spinach etc. again!! Banana a little too soft, throw it in the blender or freeze it for later. Want breakfast in five minutes and that includes drinking it! No problem.

Does this sound good? Greek yogurt, banana, apple, tangerines, and blueberries? Yummy! And guess what? You just peel the banana and tangerines, cut the apple into quarters, (don't worry about seeding it), throw a hand full of berries in, some yogurt, ice and a little water. Blend for 20 seconds and that is it!

Think of yogurt, pineapple (skin removed on this but don't need to core) and dates! Frozen berries of any kind, cinnamon, honey - just go wild!

Then there is the real healthy drink of baby spinach, cucumber, lemon juice, celery, parsley, yogurt and an apple. I know sounds weird but it is delicious. Blend anything you want!

The only bad thing about this is I cut my finger quartering my apple! So everything isn't perfect!

Happy Eating 2012!

P.S. I don't own stock in Vita Mix, nor do I get anything from recommending them! Just want all of our students of flaunt to be healthy. Now it is off to the treadmill. Gawd, this upkeep effort is never ending!
