The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Le Papagayo

We asked our Flaunt Foodies for their favorite restaurants. We didn't care if they were 5 Star or a diner but were only interested in their menu. Grace Martinez Hays recommended Le Papagayo in Encinitas, California. (San Diego area)

What a gem! Unpretentious, fun, live music every night and it is also open for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Great seating outside for a beverage before dinner too. Lots of pillows, cushions and heaters! Can we say, feels like southern California? Yes!

Here are Grace's recommendations and as she said everything is made fresh to order:

Scallops in the half shell, baked scallops and herb prawns with roasted garlic, tomato, chorizo and aged parmesan cheese

Crispy Macadamia nut fried calamari with sweet and sour chili dipping sauce

Truffle fries with parmesan and truffle oil (think we died and went to Heaven for this)

Moroccan style roasted red bell pepper, broiled with soft goat cheese, feta & roasted garlic on a bed of fresh spinach

Check out their entire menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Too much to list here but something for everyone.

Dress is casual and get ready to feel like you're back in the Caribbean! Prices are not over the top.

P.S. People seem to rave also about the Lobster bisque soup and bread served with pesto. YUMMY!!

Thank you Grace for recommending this little local gem!! If you are a Flaunt Foodie check it out and let us know how you like it. Merci
