Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie Recipe ~Melissa Rugg

Pie Crust : 2 cups sifted flour

1tsp. Salt

2/3 cup shorting

5-7 tbsp. shortening

Sift together salt,& flour, cut in shortening until pea sized. Sprinkle one tablespoon cold water over part of mixture. Toss lightly, and push to the side of the bowl. Repeat, until moist. Form a ball. Lightly flour surface of counter. Press dough with the side of your hand in 3 places. Then roll from center edge until the dough is 1/8 inch thick all around.

must be nine inches round.

Filling: 1stick of butter

2 oz. Bitter Chocolate

4 eggs

1/2 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 molasses

3/4 cup light corn syrup

2 tbsp. Bourbon

1/2 tbsp. orange zest

1/2 tsp. salt

Drop orange oil* Optional

2 cups of pecan halves

This recipe is a very old southern pie recipe that was handed down to me by a real southern lady. She has since passed on. It is delicious! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. You are the ONLY one I have shared it with. No family members have this. I look forward to seeing it in the School of Flaunt blog.

The recipe looks harder than it is. It is such a good dessert. I hope you all try it and enjoy! This is truely a "southern delight." A little old lady gave me the recipe. I have made this for many occasions, and never shared the secrets until I gave it to Cate.
