The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

We are thrilled to announce that our School of Flaunt Handbook is now being proofed and readied for publishing.

We would also like to announce that Joel Woodard, famed artist and designer, has graciously offered his talents for our book's illustrations. And may we add they are flaunt fabulous!

In Joel's honor, Cate and I are posting our portraits which Joel drew, on our Face book pages.

Thank you Joel!

Biography of Illustrator: Joel Woodard

Joel Woodard is an interior designer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, as well as Traditional Home, House Beautiful, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, and House & Garden magazines. He has also appeared on Martha Stewart's "Morning Living" radio program on the Sirius Channel and his work has likewise been featured on NBC Television's LXTV "Open House."

After graduating with honors from The University of Alabama, Joel moved from Alabama to New York City to pursue a career as a fashion designer. With stints at Geoffrey Beene and Arnold Scaasi in his Fifth Avenue couture salon, Joel designed his own line of eveningwear, selling to such carriage trade retailers as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney's New York, Neiman Marcus and Giorgio Beverly Hills. Joel shuttered his ready-to-wear enterprise after several years to take a degree in interior design from The New York School of Interior Design.

During his career in interior design, Joel has enjoyed working in some of New York's most important residences and on some of the region's most prestigious show houses, with the most recent being the Kips Bay Designer Show House 2009.

In addition to his interior design work, Joel also operates J Design Antiques Garden, a small shop in the village of Oldwick, New Jersey, where he sells a variety of antique furnishings, art and accessories for the home.

In 2009 Joel was asked by Mr. Albert Hadley, widely known as the Dean of American Interior Design and of the venerable interior design firm Parish Hadley, to serve as an independent design consultant.
