The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

In a tony area located on East 50th St. and 1st Ave. you might pass by this small restaurant. It was the brain child of Zeze, a Brazilian florist who runs Zeze Flowers in Manhattan. Fifi Froelich describes it as such: soft lighting, fabulous flowers and topiaries, competent and friendly wait staff and "savory" food.

It is rare to find a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and also a brunch. Rave reviews have been made about their brunch Stuffed French Toast!

Picture this: French toast that is stuffed with mascarpone and sliced bananas served with whipped crème fraiche and sausage on the side. Only $15. Our mouths are watering just thinking about this!

Dinner entrees that stood out on their menu were:

Long Island Duck Breast (It is NY), with Five Bean Cassoulet and Braised Cardoons for $29

Burgundy Braised Short Rib, with Fingerling Sweet Potato and Cauliflower Mousse for $33

Herb Crusted Colorado Lamb with Truffled Fava Bean Mousse, Confit Baby Beets and Black Trumpets for $38

Do be prepared though. It is New York and the wine prices are high. Entrée portions are on the smaller side for those sleek New Yorkers. But if it is good enough for Valentino, the NY Social Scene and Celebs then it must be good!

Note School of Flaunt Students: Checking out the other patrons quietly and graciously is something we cover in The School of Flaunt Handbook! Do not embarrass us please!

Thank you for your recommendation Fifi. Bon Appétit everyone!

A School of Flaunt Review,

Alexandra and Cate
