The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

A Stylist or No Stylist? That is the Question.

As we breathe a collective sigh of relief that another Oscar show is over, we ponder the almighty question of, "Did they use a stylist?" This surely opens the door for many thoughts.

This year the ladies of The Red Carpet looked Magnificent! Some of our Flaunt Favorites were:

Cate's List:

Definitely had a Stylist! They looked so amazing!

Sandra Bullock, looking Hot, Hot, Hot in her Red Gown. Thankfully NO BANGS.

Jennifer Hudson, Tim Gunn gushed over Jennifer and rightly so. She looked amazing.

Natalie Portman, looking lovely in purple. The drape of the neckline took the eye away from the Baby Bump. Congratulations on being such a Winner!

Mila Kunis, Breathtaking in violet. This Marchesa Gown was a showstopper!

Hailee Steinfeld, Again Marchesa, with the design help of the young star, herself. Adorable and age appropriate.

Halley Berry, Marchesa magic with Neil Lane diamond drop earrings. Can she look bad in anything?

Reese Witherspoon, Lovely hair with a lovely Armani Privé gown. No more can be said.

Dame Helen Mirren, We bow to you lovely lady.

Who definitely DID NOT have a stylist!

Melissa Leo, besides dropping the "F" word on national TV, her Pony tail was a Flaunt Failure.

It was a mess or we would just call it a Miss! Her gown was atrocious! We could have checked our makeup in all those mirrors! Stylist next year please, Melissa.

Florence Welch , you have a Great voice, what's with the DRESS?

Man UP!

Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem looked a little silly when presenting. Their white tuxes were too small! Were they rented?

Congratulations Colin Firth! You are the most dashing!! Definitely gets the SOF seal of approval!!

Alexandra's List:

Definitely had a stylist!

Reese Witherspoon, in her strapless Armani, with that long hair (do you think she had hair extensions?) Looked Stylist Perfect! And her stylist was Leslie Fremar. Kudos for a SOF night!

Mila Kunis, Ravishing, a dream in lavender replete with perfect earrings. Just the right amount of sexy! I do wonder though how that dress stayed in place, if you get my drift.

Amy Adams, "Oozed" old time Hollywood Glamour, Rita Hayward would have been proud.

Michelle Williams, A "vision" of pure loveliness. And speaking of lovely, how about the hair?

Jennifer Hudson, "Wow," has Weight Watchers worked for you. I'm sure sign ups for them went through the roof this morning. Loved the red Versace!

Anne Hathaway, Looked great in everything she had on but really loved the vintage "red" Valentino, she entered the Kodak Theater in!

Halle Berry, What can I say, the woman always looks "flaunt fantastic." Love the Neil Lane diamond earrings; they didn't take away from the dress. Thank God no chandeliers! I'm so over them.

Hillary Swank, Gorgeous in silver and feathers! No one would accuse her of looking like a bird. Remember that woman who came dressed like a swan a few years ago? Made such an impression that all I can remember is that awful Swan getup!

Penelope Cruz, does she ever look anything but beautiful and totally sexy! Can't believe that she just had a baby too!

Sharon Stone, HOT in black! Especially for her age. Go Sharon, Go Sharon, Go Sharon.

Natalie Portman, "Pregnant in Purple," always looks great! Can hardly wait to see that gorgeous baby.

Dame Helen Mirren, We should all look that good at her age!

Hailee Steinfeld, Last but not least the absolute darling of the Oscars! Looked like a Princess!

Honorable mention:

Annette Benning, Finally got her hair right, got rid of those spikes. Dress was lovely.

Helen Bonham Carter, Oh, thank you for combing your hair and matching your shoes! Dress, I think you can do better.

Marissa Tomei Loved the dress from the waist down. Waist up looked like it was made for someone else or possibly that you were going to your first prom.

Stylist NO:

Scarlett Johansson, Cate liked the dress. Sorry Cate, here we differ. No picture of loveliness for me. Sad plum color, not "royal" purple. And what was up with that hair? Total Flaunt Failure. Maybe some gorgeous earrings might have helped improve her image?

Cate Blanchett, Was she trying to catch someone's eye for a remake of Stars Wars? All she

needed was a matching Helmet with that dress and I'm sure she'll get the part.

Melissa Leo, please Madame, was the hair suppose to be up or down? Was it a "near miss or a mess!" Probably both! Next time use the stylist and remember, NO SOF Lady swears on national/international television. Bad form that one.

Jennifer Lawrence, we know you have a great body and we also love red but have you ever heard of putting some jewelry on. It looked like you got interrupted when dressing and forgot to finish the look! Sorry dear.

Man Up!

One last thought, Russell Brand, you are a lovely man to have brought your mother but next time can you wash your hair?

Jeff Bridges, it's time to shave off the beard or Grizzly Adams look. You have finished making True Grit, facial hair is aging. Manscaping is also needed for Christian Bale. Enough said.
