The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

What do you get a woman who has everything?

Well, Cate and I have been back from Hong Kong long enough to have recuperated from our adventures with her Mother. As most of you know Mummy was picking up the major tab for our vacation; even though I made sure, at every opportunity that I paid for our meals, it still seemed like such a small gesture.

What do you get for your hostess since she has most everything? I decided on a threesome of Herend Rabbits to send her. Since it is the year of the Rabbit this would be a nice remembrance for her of the trip. Cate had also given her seal of approval on this idea too. As Cate said, "Mummy does love everything English but she does have a smattering of mementos from other parts of the world."

Now, the irony of this statement is that Mummy's home is starting to resemble a rather comfortable museum, with all of those mementos, but that is neither here nor there. But what else would Mummy really enjoy? Have you ever heard of Ace of Spades champagne? Well, Mummy has! As she says, "It is really top drawer! If it is good enough for HRH (Queen Elizabeth) to serve then it will be on my table too."

So, I got Cate to call her brother-in-law in England and he was able to get a case of it shipped to her from me. Yes, I did say a case. Remember, Mummy had spent a lot of money entertaining me!

We go into much detail about being a guest, gifts for your host and hostess and more in our Handbook. But for now, let's just say, "Remember to write the handwritten note of thanks and send an appropriate gift. Then hopefully you will always be on the A list!"

Thank you Mummy and Cate for a wonderful time!

Alexandra
