The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Our High Tea at the Peninsula!

Our High Tea at the Peninsula!

A true MUST in Hong Kong is Tea at the Peninsula. If you are a resident of the hotel, no problem with seating, but be forewarned, the crowds and queues are daunting for non patrons.

Mummy insisted and we agreed that Tea it must be! We met for Afternoon Tea in grand style in The Lobby. This is a legacy that began many years ago at The Peninsula Hong Kong. We enjoyed rare teas from around the world, some created only for The Peninsula.

High Tea consisted of finger sandwiches, scones and pastries creatively presented.

The sandwiches were excellent. Mummy and I were particularly fond of the winter roasted vegetable sandwiches that consisted of red/yellow peppers and tomato comfit laid on a bed of small asparagus slices, held together by black Bavarian bread.

Don't even get me started on the piquillo pepper and almond quiches, or the petite ginger and plain scones with strawberry preserves, clotted cream and lemon curd that followed the sandwiches.

Alexandra loved the delicate circular almond cookies, miniature mango Bavarians topped with gold leaf. Add to this we all enjoyed the mini panna cotta with blackberry preserves; ginger brioche bread pudding and milk chocolate oolong tea custard. What a spread! Are you hungry yet?

Let me tell you the music was just as wonderful as the food! The strings were lovely as the serenaded the quiet crowd. All in all it was magical and yes, we will skip dinner this evening!

After Tea we meandered down the Fashion Arcade.

The Peninsula Hotel has one of the oldest fashion arcades in Hong Kong. Throughout the years, it has hosted world renown brands: Chanel, Dior, Hermes, Gucci, Prada, Shiatzy Chen, Louis Vuitton and Cartier.

Can you say Shopping heaven? But after High Tea, I couldn't try anything on, so they delivered several "items" to our suites for our perusal. Isn't that nice?

Customer Service is spectacular at the Hong Kong Peninsula!

More tomorrow,

Cate
