The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Our Flight to Hong Kong!

We are off to Hong Kong!

Yes, our Hong Kong adventure is starting! We have to admit that we are giddy with excitement. You would think we had never traveled before but you all know that isn't true! But really who wouldn't be excited since Alexandra and I are meeting Mummy at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong for a Girl's Week! My Mom is a doll! She has booked us on Singapore Airlines in those fantastic Sleeper Suites. Our "beyond' First Class trip started at the door of the airport!

We have the driver pull up to the First Class Zone and from there the Singapore First Class Customer Service Personnel greet us at the car and a porter whisks our luggage away. The Staff then escorts us to a private First Class Check In Lounge where there's a fully stocked bar and canapés available while we wait.

Once checked in and suitcases were on their way towards the aircraft, we are escorted through a private hall and into a "special lane," that goes directly to Immigration for a Fast Procedure and may we add, not one of those rude Pat Downs was attempted. Don't you hate those, especially when they are fondling your jewelry!

From there we found ourselves being guided to the First Class Lounge inside the Departure Terminal and even better yet our escort suggested that we might like to visit some of the FABULOUS DUTY FREE SHOPS inside the airport. It's like a high end luxury mall, right there in the airport! Oh we do need more Longchamp Bags and one for Mummy! Alexandra insisted that she get one for Mummy for a surprise.

Now our flight is called and the staff escorts us to the plane! This is the pinnacle of the world of First Class! Yes, they are named the Singapore Airlines Suites, which as the name suggests are private cabins on an airplane. In fact, Singapore Airlines doesn't even regard these cabins as First Class they say the Suites are "a class beyond first." Indeed! Let us break it down for you.

We are dumbstruck and gape at the following since this is not a private jet! Our seats & beds are the largest Singapore Airlines has to offer; 35 inches across with butter soft hand-stitched Italian leather completed with a stand-alone bed (not converted seat) replete with full-sized pillows, fine Givenchy linens and turn-down service. In addition there is a comfortable lounge area with an opposite armchair and table between, ideal for meetings or meals for two! I will be joining Alexandra for dinner!

Ah now the meal! Menus are exclusively created by a Singapore Airlines International Culinary Panel and also offer a selection of fine wines and all is presented on Givenchy-designed tableware. We were able to book our meal, Lobster Thermadore, which was delicious, and enjoyed Dom Perignon throughout the flight. I might add here that Alexandra kept critiquing the service. "Beyond compare," she kept mumbling as she sipped another glass of Dom Perignon. Then she would giggle and say, "This works so much better than a sleeping pill."

Now on to our 23 inch Flat Screen and our in-cabin entertainment system which includes:

On-demand video including 100 movies and 180+ TV shows

Music library including 700+ CDs and 20+ radio channels

Power supply, USB ports, and headphone connection

Alexandra is peeking into my suite to share her latest movie selections!

Our Flight Attendant is asking for a time to turn down our beds, offering to hang up our clothing in our private closets and our sliding doors and window blinds to offer complete privacy. I grab my Ferragamo amenity kit and Givenchy sleeping garment and slippers. A quick change in the extra large bathrooms and a sampling of the many lotions in my amenity kit and I'm now ready for "beddy bye" as Mummy says. Both Alexandra and I retire to our separate suites for a lovely evening sleeping in the sky!

We are so lucky! Good night world!

Cate & Alexandra
