The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Cate's Chicago Adventure Cont.

"Oh Good God." screamed Mummy when she was told there were NO STABLES at the Saddle and Cycle Club. Thank the Lord that I discouraged her from wearing her new Hermes boots and jodhpurs!

The Club was charming, right off Lake Shore Drive, and replete with gleaming dark wood floors, Silver Trophies and Bowls which were proudly displayed in glass cabinetry. The small bar was charming and reflected the work of designer, Darcy Bonner. I believe that is his name? Anyway, my favorite was the Terrace which overlooked the lawns, pool and tennis courts. They play a winter sport, called Paddle and they are Very Excited (meaning they speak very loudly) when discussing their Paddle Teams.

Our dinner was lovely in a private dining area. Our hostess was so funny talking about her pal the President!!! So much of Chicago in the news here in the US. Why, it might seem the center of the universe to listen to the proud residents. Met a lovely Estate Agent at our dinner party, rather a Realtor, named Katherine and she and Mummy will be looking at condos. Please Lord, hide the cheque book! The old girl is giddy with the exchange rate and bound and determined to put down roots. I mentioned an advertisement for The Claire, which is an upscale "Senior Living" condo, but she will have none of that and told me so in no uncertain terms! Let her have her fun. I will meet them tomorrow at RL for lunch. Please God keep this purchase less than 4 M.

Nighty Night, Chicago,

Cate
