The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

Happy Thanksgiving

Cate called and was rattling on about Thanksgiving and how Mummy is now coming. She wants to have a turkey with all of proper side dishes for her soiree. Now you must all know that Cate has "no" experience in the kitchen or the laundry room either for that matter! Pots and pans nor an iron have ever been her forte. In fact the woman could be described as a disaster or an accident ready to happen if she enters those rooms. A large stop sign with a line going through it should be put on those doors to keep her from entering. Harsh but true! But in the woman's defense she can decorate with the best. Everyone has their own talents! Sister Parrish would be proud if she saw any of her designs!

But getting back to our call I finally recommended that she go to the club for Thanksgiving and I surely hope that she takes my advice. I wish that I could have talked her through all of the Thanksgiving rituals but I have my own problems to deal with here.

A house full of guests will start to arrive tomorrow! Yes the casa will be full and I can only hope that I have stocked up enough food for them. It is like an army of ants has descended upon me every time I do this. By the time it is all said and done I could have put them all up at the Four Seasons and spent less money. But that isn't the point! It is getting everyone together for an end of the year celebration because during December it is next to impossible. We'll get into my Mother's scheduling for the holidays at another time. Just keep your fingers crossed for me and a few prayers wouldn't hurt either!

Well my darling Students of Flaunt I must run. So much to still do and so little time! Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

OMG what did I do with my car keys? The saga continues on Tuesday next week!

P.S. Cate just called! Mumsy got a better offer and is off to Milano. Cate is crushed but I know she will bounce back. I told her to freeze all of Chef Louie's dishes except for the deserts. I will have to talk her through the defrosting and reheating process. I did hear a note of relief in her voice as she told me that she is taking Fiona to the Club for Thanksgiving! The Vegan thing could be a small issue though. Chef Louie's Thanksgiving just got a little easier and his wallet a little fatter!!

Oh the phone just rang again and it was LB. You remember my friend, The Duchess, who is 5'9" in her stocking feet. She was having a small family affair for Thanksgiving. Quiet as she had put it. Her son who is in "mega" love had told her that he was going to his girl friend's parent's home for Thanksgiving. She had no problem with that because LB thinks that this might just be the one! Her parents were going to her brother's out of state. This left her with only her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren for Thanksgiving. Well, the grandchildren have come down with the flu! You already guessed it. I said, "Please come here. We would love to have you. And you know that my Mother adores you." Should be interesting to see what Portuguese delicacy she arrives with?

Thank God for a large dining room. Now where did I leave those car keys!
