The School of Flaunt
Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!
What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

December 2010 Holiday Adventures
December started out with me organizing the Flaunt Fab Forty for their Holiday luncheon. I gave you a little history about that in an earlier post. The Flaunt Fab Forty turned into the Flaunt Fab Fifty Five but that was fine. This would be their last hurrah together in 2010 before they scattered to points around the world for family visits and vacations. But I still had my plans for the rest of the month to deal with!
And speaking of dealing with, I finally visited the Doctor about my foot to find out that I had a bad muscle sprain. My Doctor is a sports medicine orthopedic and since she had formerly worked for a pro football team I decided to take her advice. Believe it or not, Epsom salts for soaking, anti-inflammatory prescription strength drugs and some exercises which she told me I would "not" appreciate were prescribed. But to my surprise they all helped.
So not wanting to stop the festivities at the casa (home) I decided to go ahead with the planned cocktail party which I was having for my closest friends. Since the Doctor had told me I needed to quit abusing my foot that meant a caterer which fortunately I previously had booked. My caterer loves me because I have two refrigerators and a large prep pantry area with two entrances (keeps traffic jams down) besides the kitchen. All is a God send for a busy staff. Having built three custom homes I think I have the drill down now as to what you need for a good kitchen set up. I'm not Candy Spelling but she would probably approve of my lay out.
Now this event came off without any problems and everyone loved the food and went home with a small goody bag of Holiday cheer. It is amazing what homemade cookies, Godiva chocolate and holiday "Crackers" in a cute little bag can do. You would have thought I just had given them all gift certificates to Neiman's. A small aside here, Cate does love the tradition of holiday crackers and you'll never guess what I just saw but "crackers" for Valentine's Day. Should I tell her? Oh, she probably already knows. The woman is a party planner extraordinaire!
I'll tell you all about the menu in one of my next posts for Divas' Dairy. In fact I might just post some of the recipes for my Flaunt Foodie Friends. But I digress; the next thing I had to organize for was more house guests. As if Thanksgiving wasn't enough I had more guests coming. Fortunately these guests know the rules of the road for being a guest! "Rules," you say. Yes, if you follow our rules that we give in our School of Flaunt Handbook you will always be invited back. Remember my house guest from Hell who will not be invited back. She obviously did not know any of the rules!
But there are also rules for being a host or hostess. And the all important one is to make sure that you have lots of food and munchies on hand and plenty of dinner reservations made. It might be an old joke but what are we having for dinner? Answer: Reservations, still is a good plan!
Speaking of that I must go get ready for a dinner out! Will fill you in later about more December adventures.
Enjoy your Holiday Hot Toddy,
