The School of Flaunt

Back when "Flying Was Fun" Alexandra Smythe and Cate Clarke were Flight Attendants with a Major International Carrier. Prior to Private Jets coming into vogue, Alexandra and Cate traveled in the First Class World, meeting and greeting the top celebrities, politicians who would become Presidents, nouveau riche, and yes the occasional Headline Grabbing Criminal in Handcuffs!

What the two ladies viewed and experienced became fodder for the School of Flaunt, so much money, such bad taste and oh those terrible manners. Something had to be done! Hence, The School of Flaunt Handbook was born. Read More

SOF Attitude, Manners and Etiquette

In our introduction we spoke about how you all were starting to resemble actors in fast food commercials. Unfortunately our society seems to be revolving around the mundane and reality television. Do you think that behaving badly, which brings some notoriety and fame for a few weeks, is a primer for how to lead your life? Please students stop and think! These people are famous for being so depressingly ordinary. We ask you to look into the mirror now, for we need to address behaving badly. This might sound harsh but unfortunately it is true today! So please read on students.

Correct manners and polished attitude will be your ticket for entrance into the finest homes and boardrooms. Here are some definite musts for SOF devotees to use, learn and practice.

We quote famed author, Meg Cabot:

Be approachable and kind. You are lucky and you know that. Think how the poor folks feel? Never be above it all in thought actions and demeanor. Well said.

In the SOF Handbook we will be covering additional subject matter on Manners and Etiquette. Some of the issues covered will be as simple as how to enter a room, how to look Well Heeled, and we will settle the dispute between a cool and a cold stare. There will also be skill building exercises that we will ask you to perform on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, there is an Ugly Side to the School of Flaunt, from socialites to Joe Plumber down the street.

Who has wronged you and how? We will give you advice as to how to handle those nasty little people and ugly episodes in life.

Please address your questions to: Dear Smythe and Cadbury-Clarke: and we will respond as quickly as possible. Now go out and make it a GREAT Day and Be Nice!

Your NEW 21st Century Advisors!

Smythe and Cadbury-Clarke

Good morning, Ladies! In my view, attitude, manners, and etiquette are the foundation of the SOF lifestyle. It is important to know that snobbery and being unappreciative, rude, and inflexible are behaviors and actions that are blatant indicators of a lack of class. People will not want anything to do with you. Always remember that regardless ... of what you have materially, what you know and have been exposed to are gifts; share these gifts with graciousness. Every person whom you cross paths with in life are important. Remembering the golden rule to treat others the way you want to be treated is the foundation of class.

Janet Thoma

One of the kindest, most gracious and classiest celebrities I have ever met is Delta Burke. I applaud her. To me, she exemplifies the SOF lifestyle.

If only the world would understand that good manners and attitude make everyone's lives so much nicer! Students go out and make someone smile today by using your best manners. Hold open a door for someone, say thank you at least ten times today and remember Smile. If someone has displayed beautiful manners or for that matter poor ones ... let us know. We just might use your story in our soon to be published School of Flaunt Handbook.

Have a very SOF day!

Lady Alexandra Smythe and Cate Cadbury Clarke

Miss Janet, I love what you shared! I can recall this one flight I was working from Frankfurt and we were in the middle of the inflight meal when all of a sudden, one of the flight attendants discovered catering forgot to load our dessert cart. I calmed her down and told her to serve coffee and that I would be right back. What happened was, I had bought pastry and creamed eclairs for my family from Europe and what we did was, we gathered the dessert plates, placed a fancy doily on the plate, and I placed the pastries and assortment of different cakes on the cart for our passengers. I served fresh pastries for the dessert. Well, the passengers didn't know the difference, and as they stepped off at JFK, we got rave reviews for providing good service and what's really nice is, they never knew. One flight attendant told me "But your pastries!" I just looked at her and said "It's all in the name of Ambassador Service!" The moral? You can go the extra mile with a smile and it will bring good results! Rob

Alexandra Smythe

Oh Rob you are such a darling! And you are so right - it is so much easier to be pleasant and considerate and to do something nice for a total stranger as well as a friend. SOF motto: Always be nice and you will be rewarded.

Janet Thoma

Wow, outstanding, Rob! Your pride in your company and compassion for your passengers is highly commendable. The airline trained us in delivering an impressive service, but your sacrifice for others come from being well bred and the airline had nothing to do with that. Those that reared you deserve credit. You are a class act to the ith degree!

Alexandra Smythe

He is that and more! And so are you!! Air Kisses, Alexandra

Rob Martin

*BLUSH* Merci!!!!!! ANd you know, I was just doing my job! :)

Rob: If I ran your airline, you would have been given the company's highest honor!!

Lady Alex - very nice, it's perfect. A web site with class that conveys the thoughts of modern day society and the problems that exist. It is over whelming; I congratulate you and your partner Lady Catherine. I applaud your desire to attempt to maintain a culture fleeting with the wind. I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, I am a Man from the South and my mother also had a great impact on me. I was raised with these same instilled values, to speak of how much something costs and how much you paid, it saddens me so when I hear someone speak like this, because you know, you just cannot hid it. I wish you the best and look forward to hearing from you. My belief: in 2010, the world society has no true heroes, just these fools you see and hear, in passing, on T.V. We need another Montgomery /Patton, for culture to be able turn their heads and have someone to look at, admire and want to strive to become This is my belief we need a true hero.

All the best,

RT Harris
